**Wear-related Issues**
Every grinding wheel has specific limits regarding wear; once wear reaches a certain level, the wheel must be replaced. Continuing to use a wheel beyond these limits simply to save material is a dangerous violation of safety protocols. Standard regulations dictate that a grinding wheel should be replaced when its diameter wears down to a point where it is only 10 mm larger than the diameter of the mounting flange (chuck).
**Validity Period Issues**
A new grinding wheel retrieved from storage—or even one purchased directly from the manufacturer—is not necessarily fit for use. Every grinding wheel has a specific shelf life; it is considered safe for use only within this period. Regulations stipulate that "grinding wheels must be used within their validity period; wheels with resin or rubber bonds that have been in storage for one year must undergo a rotation test and pass inspection before they can be used."
**Structural Integrity Issues**
If cracks appear on any part of the grinding wheel during operation, usage must cease immediately and the wheel must be replaced to prevent accidents involving wheel breakage and potential injury.
